East Boston Social Centers’ Joyful Eastie approach works to create a more joyful East Boston community, for all. The website—developed by our Joyful Eastie teens—and app provide activities, tips, and blogs on how to spread positivity near and far and improve your mental health.
At East Boston Social Centers, we believe that joy is not a solo sport—joy lives in community. We thoughtfully instill joy in every part of our programming and approach, by fostering some of its many roots: fellowship, core purpose, meaningful relationships, inclusivity, and fun.
We know that when small acts of kindness and care are multiplied, it can strengthen a community.

From the people on our team, to the neighbors who walk through our doors, to the broader community, we’re fostering joy right here in East Boston—and we don’t plan to stop here. Here’s how we’re building a more joyful here, starting at home:
Joyful Team
The East Boston Social Centers is a community, and in many ways, a large family. People have strong relationships here and work together toward an important purpose.
Joyful Programs
Through our programs and community gatherings, East Boston Social Centers supports our neighbors of all ages to build strong relationships, engage with their purpose, enjoy physical activity, practice mindfulness, and have fun.
Joyful East Boston
East Boston is a diverse, tight knit community where many people find their joy, including right here at the Social Centers. We are dedicated to forging partnerships and facilitate stronger networks, knowing that each link contributes to a more connected, joyful community.
Joyful World
We don’t want the spread of joy to stop at East Boston’s borders. Here at the Social Centers, we believe we’re building a model that can be replicated and scaled, in pursuit of a more joyful world for all.
