Katherine White

Director of Every Child Shines

Katie joined the East Boston Social Centers as the Senior Project Manager of the Every Child Shines program in February of 2022.  She is thrilled to continue her work preparing ALL children for success in school and beyond.  She developed her passion for learning from her family, particularly her grandfather who instilled a deep appreciation for education and hard work.  Katie’s extensive background with families experiencing homelessness and piloting and scaling academic achievement gap programs in multiple school districts fueled a fierce commitment to ensure that all children can thrive in school. As a program manager at the Old Colony YMCA, she grew to deeply appreciate partnership development work as one of the most effective ways to maximize impact. 

Children, animals, and nature bring Katie the most joy.  She grew up in Massachusetts where she attended Boston College and the Heller School for Social Policy and Management while pursuing her language studies in Spain, Turkey and Brazil.  In addition to learning about different cultures, she enjoys training dogs and horses, runs in the woods, and spending time with her large and unruly extended Brazilian-American family!
